I ask (rhetorically) was Russia in a state of "unconditional surrender" prior to 2014? Of course not. Reurning to that state, therefore, would not by any stretch of the imagination amount to "unconditional surrender." Did us retret from VietNam or Afghanistan mean "unconditional surrender"?
