Isn't is obvious that an intelligent spacecraft would be thoroughly eavesdropping on a soler system as it approached. So, it is a bit late to be talking about introducing ourselves -- we have already done that inadvertently (and not necessarily making a good first impression!). Indeed, it would probably already have picked up on the fact that we have become aware of its presence and trajectory. Maybe it will soon read this article (and my commentary!).

Shouldn't it have been obvious to it that the Blue Planet was way more interesting than the others? This makes me think all this is "much ado about nothing".
