Ooph! I have been flowing your Ukraine reports based on being able to trust that you are able to set aside subjectivity. This reply of yours makes me wonder...

The leadership of Hamas decides the allocation of resources. They must stand trial -- agreed. The functionaries at lower ranks in Hamas are running a city. They are not in a position to tell the militants what they can and cannot do.

If the Nuremburg trials had been as thorough as you seem to suggest for Hamas, tens of thousands of Germans would have been convicted (instead of 19, sic!).

It would be understandable if Ukrainians taught their children to hate Russians. It would also be wrong. I take the same attitude toward Hamas. Judging by the comments from many Israeli (but certainly not all), they instill in their children hatred of the Palestinians as well.

We have to stop tolerating the "understandable" and stand up for understanding. (Not a bad turn of a phrase, if I do say so myself!)
