When the first major assault on Mount McKinley (now Denali) was getting underway, a rumor reached the camp that two gold miners from the Yukon River had already reached the summit. The expert climbers found that hard to believe, and when they finally reached the summit, there found no evidence of a prior conquest ... until the clouds below parted a bit and revealed the north summit. Sure enough there was a flag flying from it!

No doubt, the tough-as-tacks miners had reached that summit in the clouds and assumed that was it. The difference in elevation between the two summits is just 256 meters, just 1% or the total height!
